Prospective Students - Undergraduate Programs

Welcome to the UMaine’s School of Forest Resources, and thanks for your interest in our programs. Our School offers five undergraduate programs leading to a 4-year B.S. degree. Take some time to find the one that is right for you, and feel free to contact us anytime for more information.

Forestry

Get ready for rewarding careers with the forest industry, public land management agencies, environmental groups, and private consulting. Many of our students continue their studies to pursue a graduate degree. (Accredited by the Society of American Foresters.)

Parks, Recreation and Tourism

Be prepared for careers in the diverse and fast-growing fields of recreation and tourism. Career opportunities include a variety of work settings such as parks and protected natural areas, the private sector, non-profit environmental organizations, as well as state and federal natural resource agencies.

Forest Operations Science

Set yourself up for careers in industrial and consulting forestry, administration and supervision of timber harvesting and wood processing facilities, forest engineering and land management, and graduate studies in forest operations science. (Accredited by the Society of American Foresters and the Society of Wood Science and Technology.)

Forest Ecosystem Science and Conservation

Get excellent preparation for careers and graduate study in research, teaching, ecosystem monitoring, conservation, public service, non-governmental organizations, and environmental consulting.

Wood Science & Technology

This program prepares students for careers in wood science and technology. This is the nation’s only 4-year program with a Professional Elective sequence option in Wood Design and Craftsmanship. (Accredited by the Society of Wood Science and Technology.)
