Prospective Students - Graduate Programs

Our graduate students work closely with leading experts in their field and conduct research in Maine’s North Woods, in state-of-the-art laboratories, or at a number of locations around the world. Nearly all of our graduate students are financially supported with graduate assistantships and paid tuition. The School of Forest Resources offers the following graduate degrees:

Students may choose from a wide range of specialties, including:

  • Forest ecology & management
  • Tree biology and physiology
  • Nature-based recreation & tourism
  • Natural resources economics & policy
  • Forest operations science & engineering
  • Forest-based bioproducts and wood science & technology

Brittany Ross is currently a Junior in the Forestry program at the University of Maine. She enjoys many outdoor activities including running, hiking, biking, skiing, and swimming. Running is her passion in life. She ran a half marathon last year and hopes to run a full marathon (26.2 miles) this year!
