The University of Maine has received a $350,000 grant to join the National Science Foundation's Center for Advanced Forestry Systems (CAFS). This makes UMaine a member of a national multi-university effort to help solve some of the most important problems facing forest managers.

Plum Creek Provides $15,000 for the Forestry Summer Camp Safety Fund
University of Maine forestry students will be safer in the forest thanks to a $15,000 gift from Plum Creek, the largest and most geographically diverse private landowner in the nation. The Plum Creek Forestry Summer Camp Safety Fund will provide equipment, such as helmets and eye, leg and boot protection, for students who participate in the school’s annual three-week field course.
