Robert G. Wagner

Cooperating Scientist
U.S. Forest Service, Northeastern Station

Robert Wagner serves as a Cooperating Scientist with the U.S. Forest Service, Northeastern Research Station. His position is attached to Project RWU-4155 and partially funded under a cooperative agreement with the University of Maine.

Research projects under this agreement occur within the Penobscot Experimental Forest and across the state of Maine. Research projects and publications produced under this collaborative agreement include:

Research Projects:

bulletInfluence of silvicultural intensity and composition objectives on the productivity of regenerating forest stands in Maine - Establishing a controlled experiment on the Penobscot Experimental Forest comparing growth and development responses of young stands to varying intensities of silviculture and different compositional objectives.
bulletDynamics of forest structure under different silvicultural regimes in the Acadian forest - A new PhD project by Mike Saunders examining stand dynamics on a long-term silviculture experiment on the Penobscot Experimental Forest that was established by the USFS in the 1950s.
bulletRole of canopy gaps and downed woody material in maintaining biodiversity in the Acadian Forest of Maine - A research project on the Penobscot Experimental Forest funded by the USDA National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (NRICGP).
bulletCommercial Thinning Research Network - A research project funded by the Cooperative Forestry Research Unit designed to develop interim guidelines for commercial thinning and establish a network of research installations across the state of Maine.
bulletEastern CANUSA Forest Science Conference - This new conference was developed to promote regular cross-border communications about the latest forest research and management issues in the Northeastern US and eastern Canada.
