Description
FES 100 - Introduction to Forest Biology offers instruction on the concepts related to forest plants, animals, environment and ecology. In addition to traditional subjects in an introductory biology course (molecular and cell biology, evolution, species diversity, ecology), students have weekly trips to the forest to observe and learn about biology in the Maine woods.
The format of the class differes from the traditional college class. Recordings of lectures are available for downloading, and students must view assigned recordings and take notes prior to class time. During class time, students will work in groups to solve problems or answer questions that require them to apply concepts from the recordings and readings. Technical requirments to download documents and to view the recordings are shown below. For more information, see the links under the left menu. |

If you want to download the recordings to your computer for later playback, you will need to right click the hyperlink as indicated on the "Recordings" page. This will open a menu list. Select "Save Target as...", and then select where you want to store the file on your computer. Once on your computer, double cliking the recording or "swf" file will likely open the recording in your browser. However, a display control (stop, play, pause buttons) may not be present. If you want a Flash Movie Player to allow you to control the "swf" playback on your computer, try using the player from Flash Movie Player for Window's based computers.
