  8:30-10:00:   Background presentations for field visits

                       Spruce-budworm modeling

                       White pine silviculture
                       Controlling diseased beech 

10:00-11:00:  Travel to Donnell Pond

11:00-12:00:   Presentation on hardwood silviculture
                       Managing Beech-Dominated Stand
                       Update on hardwood pests, including Asian long-horned beetle

12:00-12:30:  Lunch at Donnell Pond

12:30-1:00:  Travel to pine stand

1:00-2:30:   White Pine Silviculture:

                    Managing density for optimum white pine growth

                    White pine challenges: managing for blister rust and weevil

2:30-3:00:  Travel to spruce-fir stand

Forest Health at Acadia National Park

9am  Meet at ANP Visitor Center, Introductions

9:00 to 9:30:  Orientation, park movie

9:45-10:30:  Stops along Park Loop Road near Kebo Mountain – discuss fire            management, invasive plants, and forest vital signs monitoring                    program

10:45-11:45: Presentation on Emerald Ash Borer (firewood transport by                    campers) and Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA monitoring and control)

12:15-12:45:  Lunch on Park Loop Road (Thunderhole).

1:15-2:45 pm:  Jordan Pond House -  walk carriage road and discuss forest vital            signs monitoring and vista management

3:15-4:00 pm:  Park Headquarters - Ozone monitoring and dynamics, indicator            plants for detecting air pollution damage

4:15 pm:  Return to Visitor Center.
