Completed Application Deadline to be considered for School of Forest Resources Graduate Assistantships is JANUARY 15th.

Graduate students in the School of Forest Resources (SFR) are generally supported by a graduate research assistantship (RA) or teaching assistantship (TA). Both RAs and TAs pay tuition and a monthly stipend for part-time work. The assistantship stipend and number of tuition credits paid by the assistantship vary as follows:

SFR Teaching Assistantship (TA): Includes a minimum stipend of $16,000 (M.S.) and $18,000 (Ph.D.) for 9 months, a tuition waiver for up to 18 credit hours (9 credits in the spring and fall), and 50% of student’s health insurance.

SFR Research Assistantship (RA): Includes a minimum stipend of $22,666 (M.S.) and $26,666 (Ph.D.) for 12 months, a tuition waiver for up to 19 credit hours (9 credits in the spring and fall and 1 credit in the summer), and 50% of student’s health insurance.

Grant Supported Research Assistantship (RA): Research assistantships awarded under specific grants include a minimum stipend of $22,666 (M.S.) and $26,666 (Ph.D.) for 12 months. Tuition and 50% of student’s health insurance are typically covered by the grant, but these details vary by granting agency.

How to Apply for Graduate Assistantships

All students accepted to the School of Forest Resources as graduate students are considered for available teaching and research assistantships funded directly by the School. Applicants are awarded these assistantships based on academic qualifications and/or unique expertise.

In addition to School-funded assistantships, research assistantships are awarded to graduate students under specific grants that have been obtained from external sources by our faculty. Most graduate students in the School of Forest Resources are supported by research grants. The best way to be considered for these research assistantships is to contact faculty members in our School who are conducting research in your field of interest.
